Victorian flower brooch with diamonds, gold and silver
Description:
Diamonds, gold and silver for an antique brooch resembling a flower. Half of XIX century (Victorian).
All old European cut diamonds. In the center a yellow diamond of approx. 0.30 carat. All around a total of 132 diamonds with a total estimated weight of approx. 4 carats. In total we have 133 diamonds weighting approx. 4.3 carats.
Silver on gold was used because at that time they belived that only a silver mounting could render the true beauty of a preciuos stone. Gold on the back was necessary to avoid the black stains on clothings or skin.
