Antique lava cameos gold earrings

Description:

Here we have a nice pair of antique earrings carved in lava stone. On the Top we have a full-round head of a Baccante ( the dancing followers of Bacco during the wine festivals). The head, of course, is adorned with well carved wine grapes and leaves and is a little masterpiece of carving full of perfect details. Down we have a little wine amphora as an hope for a good harvest of grapes for wine. A typical Grand Tour souvenir from Naples. End of the 19th century. 14K Gold (touchstone tested). They are in perfect condition. Lava jewellery was a must souvenir among the Grand Tour Tourist of the 19th century in Italy. In different colours, always in classical subjects sometimes they achieved a masterpiece quality for the detailed hand-work engraving.
